Profile

Dr. Ioku is a professor in the Faculty of Economics, Keio University, Japan. He received his Doctorate of Science in Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1990. From 1989 to 1993 he worked as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Science at Kochi University. He was promoted to associate professor of the Faculty of Engineering (1993-2001), the Graduate School of Medicine (2001-2003) at Yamaguchi University, and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Tohoku University (2003-2006). From 2006 he held a professorship at Tohoku University and moved to Keio University in April 2012. Dr. Ioku is an active member of several professional associations, such as the Ceramic Society of Japan, the Materials Research Society of Japan, the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine. He has received numerous awards for his scientific achievements, including from the MRS International Meeting (1988), the Japanese Association of Inorganic Phosphorus Chemistry (1996; 2008), the Society of Inorganic Materials Japan (2000), the Asian BioCeramics Society (2005), and the Ceramic Society of Japan (2009). He has also published around 300 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of materials science, medical science, and environmental science.
